You future is really just a picture to you right now. For some it’s a clear picture but for others it’s a vague and foggy view of an unknown destination. When looking at your future keep these things in mind.
-
What you see is what you get!
-
If you can’t see it you will never believe it!
-
If you never believe it, you will never achieve it!
-
How you see yourself determines your actions!
Ever watched a scene from a movie where the hero or heroine is looking in the mirror and the image they see is different from who or what they really are? Weird huh? Yet that is an accurate representation of our own lives.
How about the movie “sixth sense”? The main character (Bruce Willis) interprets his reality by how he sees himself. He doesn’t see himself as dead and it affects his actions and reactions.
Or if you’ve ever been to a house of mirrors at a carnival, you’ll remember that the image you see in the mirror is a distortion of reality. All three scenarios represent in some way our image of ourselves.
What we really believe about ourselves determines our future. A wise person once said that whether you believe you can or you believe you can’t, you are right.
If you want to create the future you really deserve, you must get the right image of yourself firmly planted in your mind. To paint the right picture in the recesses of your mind start by asking yourself these questions:
- What should others find attractive about me?
- What do I believe that I am really good at?
- What one thing can I contribute to humanity?
- Do I think I am entitled to a great future?
- In what ways am I like the greatest influence in my life?
- What is my unique contribution to the people around me?
Take a few minutes right now with a pen and paper and answer these questions. It may take you a while to fully consider what you really believe about some of these things but the answers will help shape your image of who you are.
A few years ago, I went through a period of soul searching, trying to understand what unique things I brought to the table. One thing that I finally realized was that I found it fairly easy to believe for things. I mean really believe that things would happen in a particular way. Money would come when I needed it. Opportunities would be there at just the right time. I had faith!
The realization actually changed the way I looked at myself and created an increase in the ways I could apply faith. Once I saw myself as a person full of faith and hope I started acting more confidently in that area.
I am confident that once you start looking clearly into the mirror of who you are and get the right picture in your mind, you will become the person you really want to be.
What do you think about the real you? How are you shaping your view of yourself? Let’s talk about it in the comments.
