Lately, when Kim and I have made the trip from Kelowna to Revelstoke, it seems like it’s always over a meal time. We get hungry and end up stopping for a bite along the way. I know it’s not the best for us, but I didn’t think it was that bad until I read this article: The Truth About Your Weight Gain.
I thought that if I ate fast food burgers that were mostly patty, then I was eating mostly healthy. I guess not!
The company specializes in taking slaughterhouse trimmings—heads and hooves and the like—that are traditionally used only in pet food and cooking oil, and turning them into patties.
I’ve thought for some time that it was the onions on the burgers that made my stomach cry for help, or maybe the process cheese. Turns out my body has rebelled at the patty.
I should point out that not all fast food restaurants would have patties made from the ingredients suggested in the article. Still… fast food probably isn’t gonna be your healthiest choice anytime.
Incidentally, a quick look at the Beef Products Inc website shows a link for ‘the process‘ It’s under construction!
