Whispering, Protocol and Other Social Inconveniences

mischief.pngI’m feeling a little mischievous today… something that I usually leave to my wife while I look after the more serious things.

Actually what’s got me thinking is the whole relationship, social, conversational aspect of blogging. The way in which many of the normal social taboos don’t work in the blogiverse.

For instance if I whisper someone’s name here at “Live the GREAT life you desire!”, will they hear me in other parts of cyberspace? (whispers Phil Gerbyshak’s name) And if they do hear me whispering, (whispering Adam Kayce) how will they respond? Do you think that anyone can resist the temptation of finding out why others are talking about them? (pssspt Chris Cree)

You are in a crowded blogosphere… across the other side of the place you hear your name. (sshh Ben might hear) Do you pretend you didn’t notice or do you walk over and join the conversation. (don’t look Liz is on her way over) How do you introduce yourself? (is that really Wendy?)

Blogging is all about the conversation, but it’s not always your conversation. (have you met Easton?) Probably one of the best things you could do is work the room. (hey is that Dawud I see over there?) And as you walk around, you’re likely to meet some great people. (hey Aaron, hi Terry, how you doing Alex?)

Oh yeah and one more thing… while you’re walking around, try to introduce your friends. (I want you to meet Jon) It would just be polite.
