I have so many quotes that I want to share about this subject! Here are just two, based on things people have said so far.

Perfection has one grave defect, it is apt to be dull. -W. Somerset Maugham

Kites rise highest against the wind not with it. -Sir Winston Churchill

For me, these mean I don't have to be perfect (even thought I REALLY want to be) and that struggles, things that are difficult and scary, like start something new, are what make me a better, stronger, healthier person! Well, if I am willing to make the best of it that is.

I can relate to Jonathan. Sometimes I felt I'm fast becoming a seminar junkie. There was this 8-day bootcamp I went to where a facilitator used Jim Collins "Good to Great" as a discussion point. He said we need to align our desire with our action to reach a higher level. I told him that's not enough, we need to make certain commitments and sacrifices and doing things we are uncomfortable with. Only with a congrudent balance of desire, commitment and action would we be successful. Otherwise we are tied down by fear, excuse and all those yada yada in our head.

Hey Jon... I can really relate to the "not delegating". In fact I just had a conversation with someone a couple of hours ago about that very thing. When you find the "SECRET" let me know.

"I already know everything I need to be successful" - hehe, great post Dave!

You know Dave, I was at the Millionaire Mind Intensive Seminar not so long ago, and seriously, It hit me! So many people, with talent, ideas, passion... but having no idea how to do this and that, and procrastinating and not getting anything done! Sometimes I feel there is a lot more "self-help junkies" out there than I thought, you know the "oh yeah I'm going to that seminar, i'll be soo motivated after that, I'll get more things done" and then the "back home, and still procrastinating"...

I was there at that seminar, thinking to myself "why am I here, why am I getting this overwhelming motivation speech, when I'm already motivated to start with, and I could be home working on my new projects".. a lot of people seem to rely too heaily on the next "this will make me rich, i'll be more motivated, i need it" kinda stuff, and don't get much done in the end... I can't stand spending 3-4 hours a day on "self-improvement" i just can't, don't get me wrong i LOVE self-improvement and personal development, i've read books and books, been to seminars, and all... but still I've learned more just reading Aaron's blog! That's something! and it's free, takes 20-30 minutes of my time, and I can still do everything i wanna do in my day! :)

To answer your question, what's holding me back I think, is the lack of tools and the fact that I don't delegate enough, I like doing things myself, and am more satisfied this way, I'm working on it though, but yeah i'd say "not delegating" is one of the things that's maybe holding me back.

Aaron... if there was a magical ticket, we wouldn't have anything to write about. Except maybe the colour of the ticket.

Debbie... thanks for stopping by for a visit. You make a really good point about perfection. Needing to do something perfect probably keeps many people from stepping out and doing what they could do.

Stop by again... you are always welcome here.

Realizing that you don't have to do something perfectly makes it a lot easier to jump into life with both feet!

Dave,

You say it so well in so few words!

Thanks for supporting the notion of getting on with our lives instead of looking for the next magical ticket to success!
