Create a todo list that actually works

Taking my inspiration from Monday Motivation over at eMomsatHome.com, I’ve been creating more realistic todo lists. Here’s what’s working for me

  • Limit the size of your daily todo list to no more than 5 or 6 items. Many more items than that and it ends up being a should do list rather than a will do list.
  • Give yourself a reward or a consequence depending on whether you complete all the list or not.
  • Put at least one easy item on the list — probably at the top. Finishing it gives you a motivational hit.
  • Tell someone what you are going to do. Post it on your blog or leave a comment on Monday Motivation.

What are your hints for making a todo list that actually works? Let’s talk!

Hey Dave! :) Yeah, keeping the list down to just a few things is really, really hard, because we always want to do more than we really can fit in a day! You added some great points in this post – thanks and well done!

Wendy… the Monday Motivation has been a really big help for me. I’m thinking I might do something on thursdays here to clean up the week.
