Wanna have some fun? Silly question! Of course you do. So here’s a bit of a riddly, stimulating thought provoking set of questions. I’m looking forward to your answers in the comments.

What’s the difference between a tv and a computer?
What’s the difference between a lecture and a discussion?
What’s the difference between George W. Bush and Liz Strauss?
What’s the difference between a website and a blog?

Here’s some hints:

  • All the questions have the same answer.
  • That answer will take your relationships to the next level.

Now let’s ask the ad-hoc panel for their answers to these questions. Panel? Who would like to go first?

    Oh, let’s see, so many answers…

    How about freedom?

    A computer offers freedom while a tv offers slavery. Same can be said about lectures vs discussions, Bush vs Liz and websites vs blogs.

    umm, what’s the difference? i’d say a computer, a discussion, Liz and a blog are interactive and fun. While a TV, a lecture, George and a website are static and definitely don’t make me want to participate hehe :)

    Well, I’m speculating I’m not on the panel but my thought is “interactive”. I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard my wife flip to the Weather channel and wait 10 minutes for “Weather on the 8′s”. Open a browser and check weather.com, please! Someday…

    Thanks for joining in the conversation. I think interactive is definitely along the right lines….. No kidding about the weather channel, but don’t you think that makes us more impatient?

    More impatient perhaps…but it affords us freedom (Dawud’s point). TV (for example) is so frustrating because it’s never what I want, when I want it. If I need the score/highlights of the Cubs game, I don’t want to sit through the entire sports broadcast (and I actually have to sit through more than that because I’m not sure when they’ll broadcast the sports report).

    Also, I can’t interact with the local news about the Cubs game. If my team wins, I want to share in the win (as though I had something to do with it…) with a community. I can hop onto a chat board or a forum dedicated to the Cubs and chat it up with fellow fans. Brilliant.

    You’re thinking interactive as in shared experience. I really like that idea. Now it all depends on whether you’re a cubs fan or not. :smile:

    Hey Dave,
    How about participation leads to engagement and ownership in the acitivity?

    Folks get to be part of molding where things go and what they become . . . In each case, we create content and conversation that takes imagination and stretches our ideas to make new ones. We push the envelope and push each other’s thoughts. As Dawud and Jeff said it’s freedom, and as Jon and Jeff said it’s interactivity and fun. It’s participation and idea creation. It’s creating history and the future at the same time because the Internet has no eraser.

    And I guess the yellow brick road really does fit in because, well, it takes a brain, courage, heart, a dream, and a bunch of friends to do it right.

    Hmmmm…a riddle and a seat on the mystery panel all in one! I’m intrigued!

    I’m short on time right now though, trying to get everything done before I leave town this morning. I’ll definitely take a stab at this when I get back, though.

    Maybe by then my fellow panelists will have helped me find the answers! :)
