Nothing to fear except fear itself

What do you fear?
What does it keep you from achieving?
What fear do you need to face to move toward your goal?
What are you going to do about it today?

Let’s talk about it!

Good question, one thing (since we’re all humans.. i hope) we fear, is rejection. We all crave attention, and all want to have this feeling of importance. I have to say that is something i fear. i usually try to overcome that fear just by saying to myself (when i have a thought or bad feeling) “thanx for sharing” and i move on and do what i have to do anyway. It’s hard at first, but once you expand your comfort zone, it gets easier. It’s the small improvements that matters the most i think.

    What about you Dave?

Jonathan, I’ve thought about it quite a bit and I’m not sure if I have many fears. I mean, I’ve worked through those that are the most debilitating anyway.

At this point my biggest fear is probably not doing my best. Yeah that’s the biggest.

Any suggestions that won’t drive my compulsive behaviour?

I know what you mean, i’m kinda perfectionist myself, and i like to feel i did my best. I won’t be happy till i’m satisfied and i feel i did my best. But usually when i feel a little on the down side and fear i didn’t do my best.. i try to compare my accomplishements with others (i usually don’t like to do this, and limit this to these types of situations) but it does help, just gotta keep in mind that the grass is not greener elsewhere. But sometimes it feels good to know you did “better” than other people, and sometimes it’s the opposite, i also like it when i meet someone who did better than me, so i can learn from him/her. I think it’s the small steps that are important. And when you feel you did not do your best, i think the thing to do is to ask other people what they think. :)

Good thought about asking other people. I’ll need to try that. Thanks

The greatest fear is the fear of the unknown. I used to have lots of fears but after being thrown out of a job and started my own business 10 years ago, I learnt to bite my teeth to forge ahead despite all knocks and falls. Whenever I fall, I just remind myself that there is only one way out and up if this is indeed the darkest, deepest valley. Somehow, I will manage to get up, get out. I must constantly remind myself to think positively and harbour hopes in my heart.

    Thanks for this wonderful post.
