Ever feel like what’s the point? Why bother? Why don’t I just quit?
Of course you do. Everyone does at some time or another. But feeling like quitting isn’t quitting!
Mike Sansone at Converstations brought this great book to our attention. In “Two Weeks to a Breakthrough” Lisa Haneberg says:
“Greatness is about showing up; successful people do what others put off or ignore.”
Maybe it feels like your situation is getting the better of you. Or possibly an area of your life just seems to have gotten out of control. Your finances? Your time on the internet? You feel like you’re losing it!
What do you do?
Don’t Quit!
I know that’s easier said than done, but it can be done. Here’s some ideas:
- Ask for help. I know it goes against the individualistic culture most of us are part of, but talk to someone. Frankly that’s one reason to build strong relationships. In the blogosphere and in your face to face world. The people around you want you to succeed. Let them in on the process.
- Commit again. Do something to tangibly recommit. Feel like quitting your fitness routine? Renew your gym membership. Some people call it “rebounding your goals“.
- Change your method. You don’t need to quit, you just need to go about it differently. What you’re doing right now simply isn’t working. Don’t give up; retool. Someone defined insanity as doing the same thing while expecting different results.
- Buckle down. Simply buck up and keep going. …stiff upper lip and all that. Sometimes you just need to push through. You just need to keep on showing up!
What keeps you going? How do you motivate yourself? How do you keep showing up?
